rural water supply systems in Somaliland and in Puntland

Description :
This action aims to introduce Public-Private Partnership (PPP) management principles to 15 rural water supply systems
in Somaliland (SL) and in Puntland (PL) to end the perpetual failure of community management structures.
Two urban water utilities (SHABA in SL and HODMAN in PL) are assisted to extend their services in rural
villages, making their water supply systems sustainable, avoiding water sources depletion while
improving access to water and long term sustainability.

Il progetto intende introdurre in Somaliland e in Puntland un sistema funzionale di gestione di
15 acquedotti rurali basato su un Partenariato Pubblico-Privato (PPP), proponendo così una soluzione
alle diverse carenze delle strutture manageriali locali. Due acquedotti municipali (SHABA in Somaliland
e HODMAN in Puntland) saranno rafforzati ai fini di estendere il servizio nei villaggi rurali, assicurando
una gestione efficace e trasparente, rendendo sostenibili i punti d’acqua contrastando i rischi
dell’esaurimento della risorsa idrica, e migliorando al contempo l’accesso e la disponibilità a lungo termine.
