Description :
In the framework of the FAO / DFID intervention aiming at the rehabilitation and expansion of slaughter-related
basic infrastructures at municipal level in the Burao area of Somaliland, Terre Solidali is responsible for
the development of a methodology that shall be applicable in the implementation of prospected interventions
in the livestock sector.
In particular the methodology has been developed through hydro-geological, geological and geophysical studies,
the conduction of a situational analysis of the meat value chain and the holding of a workshop, targeting key
stakeholders in the project area, in preparation of a PPP process along the construction of a modern slaughterhouse
in Burao.

: Terre Solidali, nell’ambito di un intervento FAO - DFID mirato alla riabilitazione ed espansione delle infrastrutture
della filiera della carne a livello municipale nell’area di Burao (Somaliland), è responsabile dello sviluppo di
una metodologia da applicarsi per la messa in opera di interventi a sostegno del settore dell’allevamento.
La metodologia è stata sviluppata attraverso una serie di studi idro-geologici, geologici e geofisici, con
l’analisi della situazione della filiera della carne, e con la preparazione di un workshop sulle Partnership
Pubblico-Privato diretto ai principali attori dell’area di progetto, per la costruzione di un macello nella
città di Burao.
Extension of operations :
The action has been extended in order to draft the financial plans necessary to design roles and responsibilities
of different stakeholders in the management of the future Hargeisa livestock market and the Burao slaughter
facility conducing to the establishment of sustainable service delivery.

L'azione è stata estesa al fine di elaborare i piani finanziari necessari per progettare ruoli e responsabilità
dei diversi soggetti interessati nella gestione del futuro mercato del bestiame di Hargeisa e dell'impianto di
macellazione di Burao, al fine di assicurare l’erogazione dei servizi sostenibili
