Participated definition and implementation of waste management service in Bosaso.
Project name : Establishment of an effective, sustainable and participated solid
waste collection system in Bosaso (Puntland), through a revision and expansion of the existing PPP structure.

Description :
The project aims at providing elements for a significant improvement in waste management and for
a reduction of urban environmental impact of waste disposal in Puntland. Through a participated approach,
the intervention wants to sensitize all stakeholders on the territory. It wants to provide the entire
community with a shared and improved understanding of challenges faced in the provision of solid waste
management in Bosaso in the medium term, and of the necessity to expand the actual service structure
in line with the institutional and socio-economic context. On this basis, a set of structures and instruments
will be designed and put in place to allow the launch of a widely accepted and effective PPP structure.
Descrizione :
Il progetto intende fornire soluzioni sostenibili per un miglioramento significativo della
gestione dei rifiuti e per una riduzione dell’impatto ambientale degli stessi nelle aree urbane
del Puntland. L’intervento, attraverso un approccio partecipativo, mira a rafforzare nei partner
locali la consapevolezza delle problematiche legate alla gestione dei rifiuti e della necessità
di procedere a un’espansione del servizio, in accordo al contesto socio-economico locale. Su queste basi,
una serie di strumenti e di strutture verranno messe in campo al fine di permettere il lancio di una gestione
PPP (Partenariato Pubblico Privato), sostenibile e accettata dalla comunità.
